On January 21, 2020 there was another meeting of parents and all the participants of the Erasmus + project „International Vocational Training as a Chance to Build Common Future”. 14 nutrition and catering technicians and 2 IT technicians, who were leaving in May for an apprenticeship to Dublin in Ireland, met to summarize the activities that have been carried out in the project so far. Students completed the recruitment process, gained access to an online English language course and soon they will start a vocational English course at school. There are also classes in cultural differences and similarities, risk management and cultural studies ahead of them. Lots of interesting facts and, of course, a lot of work. It has been known for a long time that Kęcki „Copernicus” makes sure that its educational proposals are in line with the needs of the labor market. For many years, the school has been offering its students the opportunity to go on a monthly apprenticeship. Our achievements include trips, among others to Germany (waiters, cooks), Portugal (electronic engineers, IT specialists, cooks) or Spain (IT specialists, hoteliers) and England (cooks, hoteliers). The current project „International Vocational Training as a Chance to Build Common Future”, which has just begun, is intended for nutrition technicians, hoteliers and IT specialists. During the apprenticeship, students of the 3rd grade of technical secondary school are developing their professional competences. They are also learning the methods and techniques of work, as well as how to perform job-specific activities and tasks. They are to gain new qualifications and experience, learn about the latest technological solutions and about the specifics of work in European industry companies. Apprentices must use English on a daily basis with particular emphasis on professional vocabulary. The mobility is an opportunity to get to know the rich culture and the heritage of the partner country. Intercultural competences such as openness, acceptance and tolerance are developed. The benefits of international cooperation are visible to both sides of the project. Our foreign partners are also gaining a European dimension through joint implementation of the project with a Polish school, and they are building their open to Europe image.
